SP1 on other platforms? - VZ200

Post by WauloK »

Howdy!

I was reading through the documentation for SP1 and came across this gem:
SP1 is currently available for the ZX Spectrum and is being ported to the Amstrad CPC, MSX1, VZ-200 and Timex/SE computers.
I've seen that on a couple of pages but it's evident this never made it to the VZ-200 at all. Who could I contact to see about helping port SP1 to VZ-200? It'd be really handy to have a sprite library as the VZ-200 has no idea about sprites and an annoying 2bits-per-pixel / 4 pixels per byte memory map.

(Disclaimer: I didn't write SP1)

That documentation is very old and I doubt there will ever be a version for machines other than the Spectrum.

This is not because these machines don't deserve a sprite system, but the current SP1 routines are not very easily translatable onto other machines. I was trying to map these functions onto the MSX and I just find it very hard to do (not impossible).

In the meantime, it might be easier for you to write one yourself.
